1. Combat bad breath with raw meaty bones 

When your dog chews on a raw bone, especially a meaty one with cartilage and soft tissue still attached, your dog’s teeth gets the equivalent of a good brushing and flossing. Raw bones help break down tartar and reduce risk of gum disease. Also, your dog can get almost all the essential nutrients its body needs just from bones!

2. Induce Vomiting with hydrogen peroxide

If your dog has eaten something poisonous, it is always recommended to call your veterinarian doctor first, but if you want a quick solution for mild poisoning (ie. your dog ate grapes or chocolate) Mix  1 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide per pound of your dog's weight and use a syringe to squirt it in his mouth. This will induce vomiting and aid you in getting rid of the necessary toxins.

3. Treat diarrhoea with chicken & rice

If your dog is struggling with an upset tummy, prepare some cooked rice and chicken to get him back on track. It is a low in fat, single protein and carbohydrate meal, is easy to digest and is widely recommended by veterinarians.

4. Treat constipation with pumpkin puree

Pumpkin in puree form with no salts/spice added can almost immediately help cure constipation - 2 small teaspoons for pups and 2 big tablespoons for larger dogs should suffice - monitor Fido’s progress and give a higher dosage if need be.  

5. Prevent your dog from gobbling his food with a ball

Help prevent your dog from gulping his food too fast by simply putting a ball in his bowl - this action makes him work around the ball forcing Fido to eat slower.

6. Help your dog with anxiety by stuffing old jeans

Does your dog suffer from separation anxiety? Try stuffing an old pair of jeans to replicate your lap.

7. Wipe cords with bitter apple vinegar to prevent pups from chewing on cables 

Prevent naughty pooches from using dangerous household cables for floss by wiping the cables down with bitter apple vinegar - dogs HATE the taste.

8. Make a cooling ice lick for summer 

Keep Fido cool this summer and help prevent heat stroke by freezing chicken broth and treats in cubes for those extra hot summer days.

Make a baking soda paste to help soothe swelling after a bee sting - neat trick for both human and dog

10. Know the 5 second rule 

Place your hand on the ground and wait for five seconds. If it’s too hot for you think about how hot it is for your pet! Some smear Vaseline to help protect their dog’s paws from hot tar roads but it’s always recommended to wait for cooler temperatures when taking Fido out for his walk.
