Ever wondered how long a cat tail could be? According to Mr. Pugsley Addams from Minnesota, the answer is 18.5 in (≈ 46.99 cm). This Maine Coon cat was recently crowned the domestic cat with the longest tail!

While Maine Coons are already known for the large size, Pugsley from Mound, Minnesota in the United States, stands out among them! His tail is much longer than that of other Maine Coons! The average Maine Coon tail ranges from 12 to 16 inches (≈ 30 to 41 cm).

Before Pugsley won this world record, the previous title was held by another Maine Coon from the United States, Rajah Shimko, who had a slightly shorter tail. This cat's tail was a good two inches shorter than the current record holder and was only considered the cat with the longest tail for around three weeks.

Mr. Pugsley Addams's owner is Amanda Cameron. She decided to look into the longest cat tail after speaking about Pugsley's tail with her vet.

According to Guinness World Records, "[...] after being measured by his vets, they determined his tail was a whopping 18.5 in (46.99 cm), making him the proud owner of the longest tail on a domestic cat (living)." Pugsley is currently two years old and might be able to maintain this title for some time. That's because Maine Coons can continue to grow until the age of four or five.
