Good news! The state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, has recently enacted a law prohibiting the use of animals as guinea pigs in the cosmetic industry.
Indeed, after several meetings with animal advocates, and professional from the concerned sectors (veterinarians and scientists), the Governor Geraldo Alckmina provided a fine of $300,000 for companies that do not comply with this rule.
If there is recurrence, then the amount of the fine will be doubled, and institutions may even be forced to close.
