World's Ugliest Dog is dead

Elwood, a mix breed was crowned the World's Ugliest Dog in 2007 died unexpectedly on Thanksgiving morning, at the age of 8.

His odd appearence inspired his owner, Karen Quigley, who adopted him before euthanasia, to write a children's book on self-acceptance titled "Everyone loves Elwood".

Elwood became an internet sensation, possibly due to his excessive ugliness.His fans called hime Yoda or E.T. But that didn't stop people from falling in love with the Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix.

Elwood appeared at more than 200 events to help raise money for animal rescue groups and nonprofit animal organizations.

“He made people smile, he made them laugh and feel good. It was wonderful,” Quigley said Saturday. “He will truly be missed.”
