You certainly have heard of Candice Sedighan whose photos have earned Champ, her 10 years old Golden Retriever the title of "World's Happiest Dog."
Candice and Champ have become celebrities in the pet/photo world, after Yahoo! (the parent of Flickr) flew Candice to New York City to do an interview about her mind-blowing photography.
You've become a star thanks to your photos, can you tell us about this great adventure?
I have been taking photos of Champ for seven years now, ever since I was only thirteen years old. So it really has been quite an adventure making all these memories and photos all these years. Champ has gotten so accustomed to modeling for photos that he immediately begins following me when he sees my camera in my hand. I think it’s quite adorable, and shows that he really must enjoy this time we spend together. Last February, Yahoo! (the parent company of Flickr) took notice of my photos and actually flew me out from California all the way to New York to film an interview with them for their series, “the weekly flickr”. My story was then posted to front page yahoo news, MSN, the huffington post, and more. This is when people all over the world started to see and share my photos, and I am extremely grateful for the experience.
I have only become a little busier on the computer responding to people’s supportive comments and also doing many fun interviews for features like this! It’s always exciting to share my work with other people this way. I still always find enough time to spend time with Champ and make photos together like we always do. So all in all, not much has changed.
Unfortunately I have not met any pet stars! I wish there was one that lived near me, because that would be fun! I really love meeting any pets in general, we love visiting the dog beach!
I just recently started using instagram (@candiceandchamp) earlier this week! I’ve had a lot of fun sharing photos of Champ on there and the members already seem to very kind and welcoming! Of course I didn’t fail to notice yummypets has an app too! I’m excited to download it and see what it’s like because I’m sure I’ll enjoy it as much as the web version!
I’m currently a student attending college in California, and in the process searching for what I truly want to do in life. I’m still undecided if I want to expand my photography as a business and start taking photos of other dogs as well, but it’s definitely a strong possibility I’ll do it one day. One thing I do know for sure: my ultimate dream is to publish a photography book compiling the photos I have taken of Champ over the past several years. I think it would be a great way to bring together all these memories we’ve made.
I think yummypets is wonderful and tons of fun. It’s a great way to meet other pet lovers and share photos and comments with one another. Being a pet and photography lover, I just can’t get enough of seeing everyone’s adorable images of their pets all on one website. I really enjoy reading pet related news in the blog as well. I think it would be fun to involve the community even more with one another with fun contests.
