This albino dog never goes out without his sunglasses

Here is sherlock, an albino schnauzer who never goes out without his protective sunglasses. Just look at that style.

A genetic condition

Albinism is a genetic condition which means the person or animal produces a reduced amount of melanin. This is the pigment responsible for the coloration of the skin, eyes and hair, and protects the eyes from the sun.

Animals and humans with albinism have fair complexions and often have issues with their vision.

Sherlock, abandoned but rescued

Sherlock was abandoned by his previous owners when he was only a puppy. Netta McKay, his new owner, took him in amongst the other stray and rescued dogs she looks after.

Although she initially hoped to find him a new family, she eventually changed her mind and kept the little dog!

Sherlock won the affection of her whole family and now is surrounded by people who know exactly how to look after him.

On the streets and on social media, this dog has become a little star who never leaves the house without his adorable sunglasses. Perfect for protecting is eyes form UV rays.
