Recent studies have shown a correlation between cat bites and depression. Explanations are needed.

For 10 years, researchers have analyzed medical records of 1, 3 million people. It was found that 41% of people who went to the hospital for cat bites were also followed at the same time, for depression, 86% of women. So, according to the study, if you are a woman and you are bitten by a cat, you have a chance of falling into depression. Not very reassuring ...

But why ? It turns out that cats could, when they bite,  transmit the Toxoplasma gondii parasite, which causes changes in the human brain and causes depression.

It is therefore important not to underestimate the bite of your cats. Every year in the UK cats bite between 250 000 and 500 000 times and cause more than 70,000 ED visits. Bites are not painful, but still remain in any case dangerous.
