How do i know if my cat would like another cat for company?

Im looking at maybe getting another cat to keep my current cat treacle company but im not sure how she will react or behave. Is there anyway of really knowing before buying one?

It's probably best not to bring a new cat/kitten into the family when the original cat is already about 4 or 5 years old. The reason for this is that if you've had them since a kitten they are very used to you, used to having you for themselves and used to no other company. But if you would like to get another cat then make sure it is a kitten. At first the original cat will just ignore the kitten, maybe hiss once or twice and lash out its paw - this is it's natural way of saying "hey this is MY home". So don't worry too much about getting another cat just make sure it's a kitten and don't bring one into the family if the cats about 4 or 5 years old.
