thyroid problems in a 9-year-old black lab. I need advice, thanks

Dear All,

Nine-year-old neutered black lab is my pet. He eats, drinks, and uses the restroom normally. even at the age of nine, has plenty of vigour. He has, however, recently started losing hair on his tail and developing minor skin problems on his stomach.

Everything I've read suggests thyroid problems, but if I take him to the vet, I'm concerned that they'll attempt to say that euthanasia is the only option rather than trying to treat him.

Can someone help me in deciding what to do?
